1825
Birth of Gustav Clauss in Seltmanns, Ober Allgäu, Bavaria.
1852
Gustav Clauss arrived in Patras as Director of the Raisin Export Department of the German company Fels & Co.
1859
First land purchase of 60 royal stremmas (approx. 82,000 m²) in the Riganocampos area by Gustav Clauss.
1861
Official start of the winery’s professional activities.
1864
Collaboration between G. Clauss and winemaker Jacob Klipfel.
1872
Formation of the joint-stock company "Achaia". Participation in funding the construction of the Apollon Theater in Patras.
1873
Gustav produces the first vintage of sweet famous Mavrodaphne. He documents various winemaking methods in his recipe book. On page 601, the final method for producing Mavrodaphne is written.
1879
Construction of the Orthodox chapel of St. Thomas within the Estate
1882
Purchase of two large carved wooden barrels with a capacity of 13,195 liters each from Trieste. Order of Mavrodaphne by composer Franz Liszt.
1899
First bottling of white Demestica, a wine destined to become a legendary best-seller in Greece and abroad. For over a century, it remains one of the top preferences in both the Greek and international markets. Construction of the Catholic chapel on the Estate.
1908
Death of Gustav Clauss during his return journey from Munich to Patras, as the ship entered the port of Corfu. He was buried in the land of his second homeland, Gutland, at the chapel of Apostle Thomas.
1911
Introduction of the first steam engine with a separate boiler. This marks the beginning of mechanization, replacing manual operation of grape crushers (the so-called “faganes”).
1912
Purchase of an integrated external combustion engine (40 horsepower) from VOLF factories and new grape crushers, enabling the largest harvest of that era.
1919
Raisin trader Vlassis Antonopoulos purchases shares of the winery, which had been put up for international auction by the Greek State. His descendants continue the business for three generations.
1930
Dinos Antonopoulos takes over the management.
1934
First bottling of Santa Helena.
1936
Archaeological excavation: archaeologist Kyparissis discovers a series of tombs and artifacts on the estate.
1941
Installation of a radio by the organized resistance workers at the winery.
1944
Overnight stay at the estate by an ELAS unit for the capture of Patras.
1954
Construction of the main gate of the estate, designed by K. Klonis, set designer of the National Theatre.
1955
Death of Vlassis Antonopoulos.
1983
Konstantinos Antonopoulos plants and cultivates the first vineyard in Vasiliko, Achaia.
1987
The "Antonopoulos Vineyards" winery was founded by Konstantinos A. Antonopoulos.
1988
Production and release of "Ampelochora," the first wine from the Antonopoulos Vineyards winery.
1989
Production and bottling of "Cabernet - Nea Drys." Creation of the "Private Collection."
1990
Production and bottling of the first white wine from the "Antonopoulos Vineyards" winery, "Orina Ktimata" from the Moschofilero variety.
1994
Death of Konstantinos Antonopoulos. Buyout of the winery's shares by Yiannis and Nikos Chalkias
2004
Production and bottling for the "Antonopoulos Vineyards" winery of the wine "Morfeas" from Mavrodaphne variety.
2008
Transfer of the production of all commercial codes of Achaia Clauss, except for the sweet Mavrodaphne , to abroad (Germany).
2013
Nikolaos Karapanos takes over the management of the "Antonopoulos Vineyards" winery. Achaia Clauss and Antonopoulos Vineyards form a new wine "family."
2017
The winery "Castro Clauss" was founded by the President and CEO Nikolaos Karapanos, with the aim of producing handcrafted wines with the complete absence of electricity throughout the entire production process. Production of dry single-varietal wines from the Mavrodaphne and Syrah varieties for the Castro Clauss series.
2020
Sealing of a sweet Mavrodaphne barrel, vintage 2018, intended to be unsealed in the year 2118.
2025
Return of Achaia Clauss's production activities in Greece.
